You can now spend a long weekend in Paris and sleep every night in a bed bug-safe certified room, on either bank of the Seine and at any budget.
Few cities have had their hotel rooms looked at more closely in recent years than Paris. Parisian hoteliers answered that attention with proof: 92 hotels across the city now certify their guest room condition in real time with Valpas, more than any other city in the world.
Travellers were already checking: 7 in 10 take precautions to look for pests like bed bugs when they travel, and more than half inspect their room on arrival (Phocuswright 2026, surveyed across the U.S., U.K. and France). In Paris, that answer is now available before booking rather than at the front desk.
Here is a long-weekend itinerary shaped entirely around where those stays are.
Start on the Left Bank. Maison Cardinal Furstemberg sits on one of the prettiest small squares in Saint-Germain, a few doors from Delacroix's old studio. Spend the afternoon between the Luxembourg Gardens and the bookshops around the Sorbonne. If you would rather wake up next to greenery, Hotel Jardin des Plantes puts the botanical garden and the Grande Mosquée's tearoom within a short walk.
Cross the river slowly. Hôtel du Jeu de Paume on Île Saint-Louis is built into a 17th-century real tennis court, all timber beams and quiet courtyards, and may be the most atmospheric certified stay in the city.
From there the Marais is ten minutes on foot: Place des Vosges, the Picasso museum, falafel on Rue des Rosiers. Hotel Dupond-Smith on Rue des Guillemites and Hotel Les Tournelles by the Place des Vosges keep you in the middle of it overnight.
Base yourself around the Sentier, the old textile quarter that now pulls the best coffee in Paris. Hôtel du Sentier looks over Place du Caire, and Madame Drouot is around the corner from the auction house she is named after.
Then take the metro north past the Périphérique for the detour most weekend visitors skip: the Puces de Saint-Ouen, the largest antiques market in the world. Mob House sits inside the market itself, so you can hunt mid-century chairs until closing time and carry them thirty metres home.
Finish high. The blocks between the Champs-Élysées and the Seine hold the densest cluster of certified five-stars anywhere: San Régis near the Grand Palais, The Keppler just off the Étoile, Hotel François 1er, and Prince de Galles, A Luxury Collection Hotel, on Avenue George V. Across the river, the Renaissance Paris Nobel Tour Eiffel is certified too if you want the tower outside your window. Walk to Trocadéro at sunset, then give the last evening to dinner.
