Bed bugs arrive in hotel rooms hidden in guest luggage. When they first enter, there is no infestation—just one or a few bugs. An infestation only develops over time if they find a place to hide and reproduce.
How do all the bed bugs end up in Valpas Smart Legs before causing a problem?
Bed bugs arrive in hotel rooms hidden in guest luggage. When they sense the guest has gone to sleep through exhaled CO₂, they instinctively move toward the bed to feed. Valpas Smart Legs act as a beacon for bed bugs, diverting them inside it and trapping them. Their special design and materials mimic the bugs' ideal living environment, drawing them inside the legs before they can feed, hide, or spread. This ensures that any bed bugs introduced into the room are effectively eliminated right away, preventing infestations and keeping both the guest and the room safe.
What if a guest places luggage with bed bugs on the bed?
Bed bugs only move when they sense a sleeping human, as they follow the stable CO₂ signals we produce while resting. If a guest puts their luggage on the bed during the day, the bugs typically stay inside the luggage. However, if a guest sleeps with infected luggage on the bed, the bugs could move directly onto the bed and bite them. After feeding, the bugs look for a nesting place. Valpas Legs provide the ideal nesting spot thanks to their unique material and design, safely containing the bugs and stopping an infestation before it starts.
What if my beds don't have legs? Can Valpas still work?
Yes. Valpas can be installed in various ways to fit any room: - As legs for your bed (replacing existing legs). - Under or next to the bed. - As a standalone device inside or outside the bed base. Valpas adapts to your bed's design and setup for complete protection.
Does my staff need to do anything to keep Valpas working?
For Valpas to provide permanent protection, staff should check two things: - Install Valpas Smart Legs at the head (pillow) end of the bed, where bed bugs naturally move after feeding. - If your beds have skirts, make sure they don't touch the floor at the pillow end. This ensures bed bugs can see and access the Smart Legs.
What if my hotel already has a bed bug infestation? Can Valpas fix it?
Valpas prevents new infestations but doesn't treat existing ones. If your hotel has an infestation, contact a pest control company for non-chemical treatment and ensure they provide a quality guarantee. Once your hotel is infestation-free, Valpas ensures it stays that way by stopping bed bugs from settling in the future.
