EU backs Valpas to expand the bed bug-safe standard for hotels

Valpas has secured a European Union grant to support the continued development and international expansion of its bed bug-safe, pesticide free standard for hotels.
The funding supports innovation aligned with the EU’s vision of a greener, more sustainable Europe. It will enable Valpas to further scale its certification across international markets while strengthening its role as the leading standard for safe, sustainable, bed bug-safe stays.
The project focuses on accelerating the global adoption of the Valpas standard and advancing its digital capabilities to support hotels in maintaining consistent, verifiable hygiene standards — without reliance on synthetic pesticides.
As travel continues to grow worldwide, the need for proactive, sustainable safety standards in hospitality becomes increasingly important. Valpas certification enables hotels to protect guests, safeguard reputation, and reduce environmental impact at the same time.
With 300+ hotels across 70+ destinations and over 50,000 beds protected, Valpas is building the foundation for a new category in hospitality — one where bed bug safety is no longer reactive, but a visible and trusted standard.
